1. The Disney adaptation of Pinocchio was released in 1940.

2. The original Pinocchio story was created in 1883.

3. In Italian Pinocchio can be translated into 'little wooden head' or 'pine nut'.

4. Disney's Pinocchio was the first animated feature to win a competitive Oscar, it won one for best song (When You Wish Upon a Star) and two for Best Music (original score).

5. The film needed around two million drawings. Of those 200 million drawings around 300,000 appeared in the film.

6. The animator Ward Campbell based the character Jiminey Cricket's coat on the Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky bottles.

11. The Blue Fairy's physical movements were performed by the same person who did the physical movements for Snow White, her name was Marjorie Belcher.

12. The fox's sidekick known as Gideon was actually meant to talk, however Disney decided to keep him silent to make it funnier.

13. The story Pinocchio has been translated into more than 260 languages, this makes it the most translated book in history.

14. Jiminey Crickett mentions his "solid gold" badge which says 18k. (Solid gold is 24k).

15. A major deleted scene for this film was Gepetto telling Pinocchio the 'Story of the Grandfather Tree', which Pinocchio was carved from.
