1. The original Beauty and the Beast film was released in 1991.

6. Beauty and the Beast was the first ever animated film to be nominated for Best Picture.

7. The whole film was completed in only two years, which is extremely quick for any hand-drawn animation.

8. Due to a limited budget and lack of time the final dance scene with Belle and the Beast reused animation frames from Sleeping Beauty. (The scene where Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip dance).

9. In the original script the character Chip was only ment to say one line, however the voice actor was so good his role was expanded.

10. In the opening shots of the film you can see Bambi in the forest drinking from a stream.

11. There are lots of hidden Mickey's in this film, such as on the winding crank at the back of Cogsworth's head as well as on the ceiling moulding in the library.

12. The Beast's 'human' name is known as Adam, however his 'human' name is never actually used in the film.

13. The smoke in the scene of the Beast's transformation is actually real smoke footage, originally shot for The Black Cauldron.

14. The first choice actress to play Mrs Potts was Julie Andrews.

15. The first choice actor to play Cogsworth was John Cleese.
