2. Active production of the film ran from 2011 to 2017, meaning Coco had the longest development schedule of any Pixar film.

3. Dante, Miguel's extremely loyal dog is a Xoloitzcuintli (Xolo), which is the national dog of Mexico.

4. In Brazil Coco is titled Viva: A Vida é uma Festa. (This is due to the fact when Coco is translated in Brazil it means Poop).

5. At the time of release the film was the highest-grossing animated film in Mexico, earning more than $814 million worldwide.

6. After the credits there is a special, beautiful altar (ofrenda), it honours actual people who helped to build Pixar. (Some of the people include Walt Disney, Steve Jobs and Don Rickles).

7. Animators decided to give Héctor a small limp, this was to show his uneven broken bones of a skeleton.

8. Miguel's spirit guide is an Alebeije, it is a fantasy creature which is a blend of an eagle, a jaguar, ram horns and an iguana tail.

9. Gael García Bernal who voiced Héctor, voiced the character in both English and the Spanish-dubbed versions of the film.

10. Anthony Gonzalez who voiced Miguel in the film was originally hired for temporary sratch vocals, he then won the permanent role.

11. 'Remember Me', the Oscar-winnig song was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopaz, they were the duo behind Frozen's 'Let It Go'.

12. Due to the characters in the film lacking skin, animators had to create new digital rigging in order to make the skeletal expressions look appealing.

13. The film's score composer Michael Giacchino used authentic Mexican instruments, these included clay whistles, a jawbone and a marimba.

14. The Grand Central Station in the Land of the Dead was visually inspired by a historic 19th century palace in Mexico City.

15. In order to cross the Marigold Bridge you must have your photo on an ofrenda, as this acts as spiritual passport control.
