The Disney Encyclopedia - letter A

In this blog we are going to look at the 'Disney A to Z The Official Encyclopedia Sixth Edition' which is written by 'Disney Legend Dave Smith and Steven Vagnini'.

This blogs letter is 'A', there is so much in each letter that there will be multiple blogs of each letter.

1. Aames, Willie: this actor was in a TV programme called 'Twister' as well as TV programmes called 'Bull from the Sky' and 'Runaway on the Rogue River'.

2. A & E Network: Disney gained a 37.5% ownership of this network after the purchase of 'Capital Cities/ABC in 1996. This network is known for its Biography series as well as specials and original dramas. By 2012, Disney owned half of the company.

3. Aaron Stone: An Action Adventure TV series on Disney XD, it first aired on February 13th 2009 and finished on July 30th 2010.

4. Abbate, Nancy: was a Mouseketeer from the 1950s 'Mickey Mouse Club' TV show.

5. Abbott, Chuck: was a legendary host and foreman at Disneyland for 36 years, starting in 1955. Chuck was named a Disney Legend in 2005.

6. ABC: this section falls under the 'American Broadcasting Company'.

7. ABC Commissary: is a counter service restaurant that can be found in Disney's Hollywood Studios with an Art deco-style. It opened on December 16th 1990 and was originally known as the Disney-MGM Studios Commissary Restaurant or just The Commissary. It changed its name to ABC Commissary on July 1st 1997.

8. ABC Family: Disney purchased Fox Family Worldwide in October 2001 and began operation of it on November 12th, renaming it ABC Family. It was aimed at adults aged 18-34, showing films, series and specials. The network was renamed Freeform on January 12th 2016 and expanded its target audience to 14-34 year olds. 9. ABC Kids: this was a Saturday morning programming block for children with a network known as the ABC-TV. It aired from September 14th 2002 until August 27th 2011. The programmes also featured on the Disney Channel, Toon Disney and ABC Family.

10. ABC of Hand Tools: this was a training film to show the proper use and care of hand tools as well as the type of work each tool was used for. It was made for the General Motors Corporation and delivered on February 5th 1946. The film was directed by Bill Roberts.
