The Disney Encyclopedia - letter H

In this blog we are going to look at the 'Disney A to Z The Official Encyclopedia Sixth Edition' which is written by 'Disney Legend Dave Smith and Steven Vagnini'.

This blogs letter is 'H', there is so much in each letter that there will be multiple blogs of each letter.


1. Haber, Heinz: (1913-1990) he was a scientist and acted as an adviser on Disney space-themed TV shows during the 1950s. He even occasionally appeared on screen. He collaborated in 'Donald in Mathmagic Land' and also wrote the book 'Our Friend the Atom'.

2. Hackett, Buddy: (1924-2003) he was an actor who was in 'The Love Bug' playing Tennessee Steinmetz. He also appeared on TV in 'The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World' alongside his 'Love Bug' co-star Herbie. Buddy voiced Louie in 'Dinosaurs' and Scuttle in 'The Little Mermaid'. Buddy was named a Disney Legend posthumously in 2003.

3. Hackman, Gene: he was an actor who was in 'Crimson Tide' as Ramsey, in 'Enemy of the State' as Brill and in 'The Royal Tenenbaums' as Royal Tenenbaum.


4. Hacksaw: this was a two part TV show which was aired on September 26th and October 3rd 1971. It was directed by Larry Lansburgh. It was about a girl on holiday in the Canadian Rockies who tries to capture a wild stallion.

5. Hander, Bill: he is an actor who appeared on Disney+ in 'Noelle' as Nick Kringle. He also provided voices in 'Monsters University' as Referee/Slug, in 'Inside Out' and 'Riley's First Date?' as Fear and in 'The BFG' as Bloodbottler. Bill also provided voices in 'Finding Dory' as Stan, in 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' as J.P Spamley, in 'Toy Story 4' as Axel the Carnie and in 'Marvel's M.O.D.O.K.' as Angar the Screamer/The Leader.

6. Hades: this character was the scheming god of the Underworld in Hercules and was voiced by James Woods.


7. Hagen-Renaker Potteries: was a licensee of Disney ceramic figurines from 1955 until 1961. The figurines were generally a small size, but were a popular souvenir in Disneyland, however today they are expensive. There is very intricate craftmenship on these small figurines. Some of character sets of these figurines are 'Lady and the Tramp', 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' and 'Sleeping Beauty.' Back in the 1980s there were 'Fantasia' figurines for sale in the Disney parks.

8. Hahn, Don: is a producer/director who started working for Disney in 1976. He first worked on 'Pete's Dragon'. Later he served as an associate producer on the animated sequence 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit', produced 'Beauty and the Beast', 'The Lion King', 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire' and 'The Haunted Mansion'. He also worked on several animated shorts and was executive producer on several films. Not only all of this but Don also directed and produced several documentaries too. He was named a Disney Legend in 2022.

9. Hahn, Kathryn: is an actress who was in 'A Lot Like Love' as Michelle and in 'Tomorrowland' as Ursula. She also starred in 'WandaVision' as Agnes/Agatha on Disney+. For Hulu, Kathryn executive produced and starred in 'Tiny Beautiful Things' as Clare.


10. Hailey's On It!: this was a TV animated comedy-adventure series on the Disney Channel in 2023. It is about Hailey who is a risk-averse but resourceful teenager. She is on a mission to complete every item on her long list of challenging tasks in order to save the world.
